This great family style ‘cut and share’ pie is great for a family Sunday lunch or a dinner party to enjoy with friends.
A pie always goes down well for pudding and this one is delicious with cream, ice-cream or custard.
It can be made with any fruit combination and is great for using up either fruit in the freezer or fruit that we have in abundance from our garden or allotment.

Serves 4 – 6
500g pack of fresh puff pastry, thawed if using frozen
2 big bramley apples, peeled cored and sliced
100g strawberries, sliced
2tbs milk for glazing
1tbs caster sugar
Plain flour for rolling out your pastry

Method
Preheat your oven 200c, gas 6, 400f
Roll out the pastry on a lightly floured surface to a square which measures approximately 36cms x 36cms.
Place your apple and strawberry slices down the centre of the pastry, leaving a 2cm space at the top and bottom to allow you to fold over the pastry to make a clean edge.

Then your sides of pastry either side of the fruit need to be cut to make the lattice pieces, I don’t like cutting on my work tops so I placed a chopping board under the pastry to make cuts from the fruit outwards in 2 cm intervals, this then needs to be done on the other side.
Then from the top, fold over your surplus pastry, then brush your side pasty pieces with your milk to make them stick, then take a piece from the left then right and lap them over each other to make a lattice pattern, continue until all your pastry pieces have been folded over, the just before you get to the bottom fold in your surplus pasty and then fold over your last two pieces of pastry to make a clean finished edge.

Brush your finished lattice pie with milk using a pastry brush, sprinkle over the caster sugar and carefully move it to a baking sheet and place in your preheated oven on the lower shelf for 30 minutes or until golden brown.

Enjoy hot or warm with cream, custard or ice-cream, or all three!.
It looks so pretty 🍎 😋
