Chocolate Baked Bananas

Bananas are nutritional powerhouses packed with energy giving carbohydrates and heart healthy potassium and vitamin B6. Bake them in the oven, in foil, with a few chocolate buttons and serve with vanilla ice cream for a not-too-naughty treat.

Serves 4.

4 ripe bananas

60g chocolate buttons

Vanilla ice – cream, to serve

Note; why not chuck them on the barbecue instead of in the oven?

Method

Preheat the oven to 200c, gas 6, 400f

Make a slit through the skin of the banana along one side, making sure you do not cut all the way through.

Poke the chocolate buttons in along the cut.

Put each banana onto a sheet of foil and crimp the edges together to seal into a parcel.

Transfer to a baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes until the bananas are soft and turning black

Serve with a scoop of ice cream and any melted chocolate chips that have escaped from the parcels.
