A super winter gift for any gin lover, gin mulled with orange sugar and gorgeous warming spices. Enjoy topped up with tonic water or prosecco.
You will need to allow a couple of weeks for all the flavours to infuse.

1 orange scrubbed
125 g golden caster sugar
3 cinnamon sticks
1 whole nutmeg
4 star anise
10 whole cloves
A 70cl bottle of inexpensive gin.

Method
Pare the zest from the orange using a vegetable peeler and place I tin a large saucepan with the remaining ingredients. Place over a low heat and allow to warm through for 5 – 7 minutes, stirring to dissolve the sugar.
Remove the pan from the heat and pour the liquid orange and spices into a large lidded container, I used a Kilner Jar , cover and leave to infuse for 2 – 3 weeks.

Strain the liquid through some fine muslin at least 3 times to remove any particles.
Place the now strained liquid into a bottle, label and enjoy with tonic water, prosecco, and friends.
